HOUSTON AREA URBAN LEAGUE (HAUL) STRIKES GOLD AT

NATIONAL URBAN LEAGUE CONVENTION

        

The Houston Area Urban League (HAUL) affiliate of the National Urban League (NUL) broke a record with three national "I am Empowered-Champion Awards" for their outstanding work in Education and Youth Development, Entrepreneurship and Business Development, and Housing and Community Development in front of a packed room at the NUL conference on August 6, 2016 in Baltimore Maryland.  In addition to these coveted awards, HAUL's CEO Judson Robinson III. served on the Plenary Session on Criminal Justice Reform with other distinguished national thought leaders to share best practice solutions.

 

The Houston Area Young Professionals (HAUL YP) received award as the Southern Region Chapter of Excellence out of 25 YP chapters in the south, as well as individual recognitions.  With 61 YP chapters across the country, outgoing Houston YP President, Ray Shackleford, Jr. made his mark nationally by tying for the YP Chapter of Year President Award.  Incoming Houston YP President Jasmin Turner won the YP Distinguished Member Award and Cherrelle Duncan won a NULYP Honors Award.
